FINALLY!

I've been trying to get the hubby to get a new truck for a couple years and it has finally happened! LOL We weren't really planning on getting one until late winter or early spring, but other circumstances have dictated that we move forward and with the 2011 end of model sells the timing was good. He'd been looking around researching and finally settled on Nissan (no surprise, his other is Nissan lol), so started looking at what dealers had what he wanted available...

Well like I said model end closeouts were going on so, luckily he found 1 lol... There was 1, yes I repeat ONE - 2011 Frontier Crew Cab SL left in the state... It was at the dealer right the street from us! The only thing is that it has the long bed instead of the short bed, so it just barely fits in the garage and he wanted red, but black is beautiful! lol
It's good to have a black beast in the garage again! :D

It's September Already!

It's amazing the amount of activity that can be packed into a month! Crazy busy, but hey it's going to start cooling down finally!

We had to get the ac fixed, the garage door opener fixed, Ryan's car a couple of times, moved both boys, took a road trip, yard work, clean, clean, and more clean. hahaha

We got Ryan all moved in to his new place. Travis and Stephanie got moved into their apartment also and are enjoying their new found freedoms! They got Izzy D a new little brother, his name is Bowser. At 3.5 months old, he is a little brindle daredevil of a pit-mix that enjoys chasing and pouncing on full pit Izzy! Izzy is very very happy with his new little bro!

I really thought that it would be a lot quieter around here once everyone had moved out ... boy do I stand corrected! It is quieter on average, but still a lot of in and out with activity with visitors, but that I won't complain about, I like them to visit. ;) I never thought that I'd go back to washing dishes by hand, but on nights when it's just the 2 of us it seems silly to use up energy running the dishwasher for so few dishes! It's a tough life, but someone has to have it! Whew! hehehe

Rich and I had a GREAT 25th anniversary. We took a day trip to Flagstaff. We did a little sight seeing around 'Old Flagstaff', a nature walk through the Arboretum, and then relaxed a bit at Oak Creek! We both just love going to Oak Creek.

This was at the Arboretum in Flagstaff. Don't worry he got his hand out. lol

Busy Times

Well, once again several months have passed and I've not posted events. See how I am? lmao

It's crazy how things can change so quickly.  The family reunion has been put off until next year, so that didn't happen. It's all good though. Rich and I have our 25 anniversary this month!

Natosha and Eugene have rented a place of their own now. They kept one of the pups from the litter they had, Spot. He's a cutie! He's also quite huge now. They are doing well, working towards being able to purchase a house. Good luck to them on that, I know they can do it. It just takes time and planning.

Ryan was sooo happy to get the interlock out! Whew, that's finally over! He also got a new apartment, no more roommate! It took some looking to find one that would work for him, but things are going well.

Travis is moving out in a couple weeks as well (11 days to be exact). His current girlfriend, Stephanie and her pitbull Izzy, are living with us; they are getting an apartment together. We know they can do it even though they are a little nervous about it.

Rich and I are crusing along, looking forward to some quite time. ...and hopefully grandkids in the not tooo distant future. ;)  I'll have to see about getting the camera out and putting up some updated pics. Yeah right, like that'll happen! lmao

I suck at blogging

Well it looks as though I've gone and proven that I suck at keeping up on the blog. lol

The past several months have held a lot of ups and downs as usual. Love the ups, work through the downs. ;)

We got through the wedding quite well. It was quite a time! It's a good thing you all got a copy of the video because I am very late posting about it since it was in April of 2010. (see I suck at blogging lmao)

Well lets see, Travis got his first tattoo several months ago. Tosh and I both went with him and had a good laugh picking on him while it was being done. He said he prob won't do that again! lmao
Ryan moved out a few months ago, he has an apartment now with one of his friends and is doing well. His probation is over and he gets the interlock device removed in a few months, he is looking forward to that.

Tosha and Gene had a litter of pups a few weeks ago. They are sooooo cute! On the sad side, the father of the pups suddenly died. He had a heart murmur and we believe that was the cause. He is very missed! Love ya Tank!
Rich and I are doing well. We both still like to play video games. No surprise there. lol We got the new pro guitar for Rock Band 3, it is challenging but a lot of fun. We have the family reunion coming up quickly this year, that should be a lot of fun.

Well I guess that's about it for now. It's 2011 now soooo....

Catching Up!

Well, I haven't been here in a rather long time. We've had a lot of things happen and a good deal of them were pretty stressful. Let's not dwell on those though, done and dealt with!

Coming into 2010 is pretty busy so far. Ryan finally got his probation straightened out and has everything back in line, so hopefully he'll be driving again pretty soon. All the court dates to get this back into good standing has really sucked. I've decided that I really don't like sitting in court rooms all that much and will happy if I never do again. lol His classes start mid April and run for 10 weeks, then he’s finally done with everything until October when probation actually ends.

My stove has taken a turn for the worse. I discovered a while back that the self cleaning cycle no longer works! That was not fun, I had to clean the darn thing myself, blah! It’s ok, I got through it. lol But then a couple weeks ago, we were going to be out all day and I was making lasagna for dinner, so I set the turn yourself on, so it would start and be already cooking when we got home. Guess what, it’s a good thing we ended up getting home about 30 minutes after it was supposed to turn itself on because apparently that function has decided to stop working too! All was good though and dinner turned out yummy. I have picked out a new stove, but we decided to wait until after April to get it. Why wait? Keep reading…

The disc drive in the Xbox has gone bad yet again... This is box 7 I think in 2 years! But this time we had to repurchase the extended warranty, only to be able to do that I had to pitch a fit at the store manager over them making a mistake and marking the last one as fulfilled when it should not have been, so they of course didn't want to honor it, I was not a happy camper to say the least. But after him making few calls we now we have a new warranty with which we can continue to play this stupid little game of taking the Xbox back when the drive stops working and exchange it for a new one. I wonder how many more times we will continue to do this. lol

The biggest news though is that our daughter Natosha and her man, Eugene are getting married. The big day is April 24, 2010. They were going to just go to the JP and then do a big party, but changed their minds and decided to have a Ceremony. It's going to be a backyard wedding so we are keeping it pretty small, pretty much closest friends and immediate family, but it will be great!

So, I've been quite busy helping them budget consciously planning this little event and making things for it. First we had to get rings for the kiddos, and Dresses for Tosh and her girls! Done, check and double check! Sales, discounts, and free giveaways! Sweet!

Then we got the invitations taken care of. The kids picked the paper stock (from Wal-Mart, see cheap), I added a watermark as a background to pretty it up, and then we changed the original ribbon to match their wedding colors. They turned out pretty.

Then we got busy on the centerpieces. Tosh had a couple ideas in mind for what she wanted, so I took those and ran with them and came up with an idea that she really liked. I burned 2 fingers at the same time with the stupid hot glue gun while we were putting them together. Don't worry, I survived, hehehe. They look great, but I might be a little biased.

We have the reception favors done too, that was a lot of busy work. For such simple little things, I think they took the longest to complete. I am so done tying bows. lol They decided to use bubbles over rice or bird/flower seed too, so everyone get ready to blow hehehe.

The kids were getting a little stressed at this point though because they were having trouble finding an Officiate under $300, it’s just crazy what people want you pay for this service; it’s not that difficult of a job! Really! But a few days later they found one... and they let you do whatever kind of customization you want, so the kids pieced together a Ceremony from the samples they had on their website, but I thought they needed something a little more personal, so guess what I did… ;) Yes, I did.

We hammered out the menu and yes, we will be making the food ourselves. I’m glad I have family that can cook because they are being recruited for this mission! Pulled pork, bbq beef, potato salad, coleslaw, salad, desert items, and some fruit will do! We already decided on an excellent pulled pork recipe, but the bbq beef left a little to be desired in comparison to it, so it was to the Lab (aka the kitchen) for me to come up with a new one. Sure wish I had that new stove! So anyway, I’ve spent some time spicing and mixing and simmering and then redoing it all again until I came up with a recipe that will compliment.

Tosh wants her girls to have the same jewelry, but for the Maid of Honor’s to be a different “specific” color. This, my friends, is not so easy to find! So, she found a style that she likes, but of course, not the right colors! So I took a real close look at it and you know what, it didn’t look that difficult to duplicate, so I hit the craft store, found all the materials and I added jewelry making to my already endless list of hobbies! Now they will all have matching jewelry, but in the colors Tosha wanted them to be in.

We got the cake and flowers ordered last week. We are going with separate cakes decorated the same and will tier them on different height cake plates. Cheap, cheap, cheaper that way! It will be in the $65 range instead of $150-$200.

We got some flowers last week and tried out how well we can construct a bouquet! Did I say we were cheap yet? Well, apparently not that cheap. lol It looked good, but I thought it best to have a florist do it after all. The bouquet that Tosh likes is like $120 at the cheapest, but we found a florist that worked with us on the style and price and we are getting the flowers for Tosh and the girls for $80. The guys didn’t want flowers, and neither did us Mother’s… allergy season! No flowers near the nose!

Tosh and Gene are still working on the music they want to use for the reception. One of Gene’s buddies is going to MC for us. We purchased this nifty little PA system to use for the reception. It can play music off any IPod/ITouch device, or cd player and has a mic. All the inputs have their own volume switch, so they can be turned up and down independently. What’s better is that it has a dual purpose for us because Rich will use it as a guitar amp afterwards, that’s why we went ahead and purchased one instead of renting one. Problem is, now I’ll have to buy Rich a new guitar...

Other daily grind stuff, I have the spring yard work done, and part of the spring cleaning! Yeah me, just have to finish it up now. So, I guess you are pretty much up to speed on what it going on in my world. I’ll try to keep this page more current, but I make no promises. LOL

23rd Anniversary

So, as of yesterday Rich and I have been married for 23 years! Wow how time flies!
We had a great day. We don't really do gifts for special occations, we do that on a regular basis, so we prefer to spend time together. So, we had a date. First we went to lunch at the Cheesecake factory. We had lunch and then shared a piece of raspberry-lemon cheesecake. It was really good.
Then... we went down to the SpeedStreet indoor race track. It's Kart racing and it was really fun. We got the three race package. I had never done this before, Rich had. So, in the first race, I had some trouble; I couldn't reach to push the gas down all the way (too short), so I couldn't get full speed. Rich could and lapped me... the little bugger. The second race, the guy put in a jumper seat for me so I could reach, it was much better. Rich still beat me, but he didn't lap me. The third race, I actually finished in 11th place for the day. Woo Hoo, the only girl on the scoreboard! Rich, however, finished in second for the day, and came in 44th place for the month.

So what's up

Well, I guess I should update my page, but there really hasn't been too much going on around here. I went to the eye doctor and got a new prescription to get a new pair of glasses. That was sooo not exciting lol.

Little Miss Lydia had her second birthday recently. She was so cute at her birthday party. I got her a baby doll that she would not put down, a couple of outfits and a pair of cute little dress shoes. She grabbed the shoes and put them on and wouldn’t let mommy take them off. It was so cute. She’s such a girly girl lol.

Poor Ryan had to take his car in to have some work done on it. He and Rich were going to do it themselves, but they discovered that they would have to drop the front end and we are not equipped for that kind of work in our garage, so he ended up having to find a mechanic... to the tune of $650.00. But hey that's still better than the $1200.00 he was quoted for the exact same job at another place. Whoa! That was a shocker! lol...

I'm still getting my workouts done and keeping the menus healthy! Yeah me. Some days I have to really force myself to get moving though, but once I get started its great and I always feel awesome when I'm done!

I went down to the bookstore and got myself a few new stories to read last Friday. I got 5 books in all. I should be done with all of them in, oh 4 more days, lol. Yeah, when I get books, I sit and read them until I’m at the end. I love a good book! I like stories with female main characters, so my latest finds are:

Darkness Falls by Marjorie M Liu –book 2 in her Hunter Kiss series *Good book
City of Souls by Vicki Pettersson –book 4 in her sign of the zodiac series *Good book
Then I started a series by an author I’m not familiar with but looked interesting:
Howling at the Moon by Karen MacInerney – book 1 in tales of an urban werewolf series *I’m about half way through this one, will probably finish by tonight lol. I like the style of the author, there’s plenty of sarcasm and humor.
On the Prowl by Karen MacInerney – book 2 of tales of an urban werewolf *not read yet
Leader of the Pack by Karen MacInerney – book 3 of tales of an urban werewolf *not read yet

My other series that I like have a couple of months or so before the next books are released... I hate waiting lol…

Well now that this has turned into a book report… I’m off to read! lol
