Bone Shaped Washcloth

Dog Bone Shape Washcloth
Design by Marjorie Ashby
What you make is yours to do whatever; I ask you to credit the pattern to me. Thanks. ;)

Skill Set: Easy

 Materials:
Hook: H
Worsted Weight Cotton

 Size: varies
Gauge: unimportant

 Stitches:
Ch - Chain
Dc – Double Crochet
Hd – Half Double Crochet
Sc - Single Crochet
Rsc – Reverse Single Crochet, aka crap stitch
Sk - skip
Slp - Slip Stitch
3dec – 3 st decrease using that rounds st (uses 3 stitches)
for hd – yo, insert hook into next st, yo, pull up a loop, yo, sk 1, insert hook into next st, pull up a loop, yo, pull through all loops on hook.
For dc – yo, insert hook into next st, yo, pull up loop, yo, pull through 2 loops, yo, sk 1, insert hook in next, yo, pull up loop, yo, pull through 2 loops, yo, pull through all loops.

 Pattern Notes
·          Make your chains on round 1 pretty loose; you work both the top and bottom of each stitch in the following round.
·         You work in the back bump of the chain in round 1. Working in the back bump of Rnd 1 creates a uniform look on both top and bottom of the stitch. It also helps to reduce that question of ‘which loop(s) is the next stitch’ when working the bottom side.

Reunions All Around

Well July rolled around and it was time to get busy busy... We had to try and make it to both the Ashby Family Reunion and The Bray Family Reunion.

First the Ashby Reunion; it was in Salt Lake City this year. Our trip getting there was on the sad side having just lost Misty, but as we traveled we focused on enjoying what was coming.

Just outside of St. George we got a low tire pressure warning and pulled over to check it out.  We had picked up a nail in one of the tires, Rich put on the spare and into St. George we went to have it fixed. An hour later we were back on the road again. Good thing I had my Nook with me! Got a couple chapters read while waiting on the tire. :D

We saw a wild fire along the way as well.

Then we got to S&K's house. We had a great time catching up with the family and watching the kids play... the food wasn't bad either!!! ;)

Then it was time for family pics...

The Pond's
The Boise Ashby's

The next morning we were up early as usual and walked over to IHOP for breakfast.
Sunrise from the hotel ;)
Then a fun filled day at Lagoon!

Big enough to ride the big rides!

Several of us went on Blast Off as a tribute to Glen. ;)  All in all in was a great time.

We headed home super early the next morning in an attempt to get home in time to surprise Mom and make the Reunion with the family there. We were unsure if we would be able to pull this off so we told Mom we would not be able to be there. But guess what...  We made it! ;)

We arrived back in the driveway just around noon, unloaded the car, jumped in the truck and headed over my Mom's for a small Reunion there too! Mom was out front when we got there, she was shocked and happy to see us. Some of this family we've not seen in many years, so it was great to see them!

Then finally it was back home and a good night's sleep! Busy few days!

Petless

Well since my last post we have lost our Misty as well; she passed June 30, 2012. She is with Bandit now. It has been difficult loosing both dogs in such a short time. The house feels so different without them.

Movin' On

Well My Bandit passed on the 17th of March. It's been a sad week for us and for Misty. Bandit was always wanting something, lol, either a scratch, a treat, for me to follow him outside, and he was always just there, his presence is greatly missed. We are adjusting though.

We do have some happy things to look forward to this year. Our youngest son, is now engaged. They will be getting married 28 Sept 2012. They are considering our back yard for the ceremony, so we have lots of work to do to keep it in extra good shape for the event. We always have lots of yard work to do anyway! lol When they decide on what colors they want, I can start deciding on a flower scheme to plant. ;)

The other biggy is that our daughter and her hubby have decided to start a family! Yay! I wish them luck, I'm sure they will have fun trying! lmao

Sad Days Ahead

Well, back in January I contracted a wonderful skin disease that covered me pretty much head to toe. That's been fun to deal with. I haven't been able to do full cardio workouts because when the body heats up it activates the stuff and causes the already severe itching to get even worse. Bright Side: I am finally coming to the end of this mess! Most of me has healed, I have a few remaining spots that still have some minor itching from time to time, but I can work out again! Yay!

But sadly, on 5 March 2012, my Bandit was diagnosed with cancer; it is already in his lungs, so there is nothing that we can really do for him except to keep him comfortable until he decides to leave us. The pain meds seem to be helpful, he is up and moving around a bit, but he has so much trouble breathing and is now developing a cough along with it. It is a sad sad time for us.

Crocodile Stitch

Basic Crocodile Stitch
The pictures are a work in progress, I'll have them finished soon...
ch = chain
sl st = slip stitch
dc = double crochet (treble in british I believe)

Ch 20

Row 1: Dc in 2nd ch from hook, *ch 1, skip next 2 ch, 2 dc in next ch, ch 1, skip next 2 ch, dc in next ch* repeat across

Row 2: Ch 1, turn, skip first single post, 5 dc around dc post of next 2dc set – from top to bottom (turning work to the side can make easier if necessary),turn work left to access the 2nd dc of the set, 5 dc around post of 2nd 2dc set – from bottom to top, sl st around next single dc, 5 dc around 1st post of next 2dc set from top to bottom, turn work, 5 dc around 2nd post of 2dc set, sl st around next single post to end of row ending with a sl st in top of last dc

Row 3: Ch 1 turn, 2 dc in first dc, ch 1, 1 dc in center space of scale, ch 1, 2 dc in next dc, *ch 1, 1 dc in center space of scale, ch 1, 2 dc in next dc* repeat *to* across ending with 2 dc in last
Row 4: Ch 1, turn, *5 dc around first dc post from top to bottom, turn, 5 dc around second dc post from bottom to top, sl st around next dc post*, repeat * to* across, end with sl st in top of final second post
Row 5: Ch 1, turn, 1 dc in center space of scale, ch 1, 2 dc in next dc, *ch 1, dc in center space of next scale, ch 1, 2 dc in next dc*, repeat *to* arcoss
Row 6: Ch 1, turn, sk first single dc post, *5 dc around first dc post of next 2dc set, turn, 5 dc around second dc post of set, sl st around next dc post*, repeat *to* across with final sl st in top of last dc
From this point repeating rows 3-6 constructs the pattern.
Row 7: Repeat row 3
Row 8: Repeat row 4
Row 9: Repeat row 5
Row 10: Repeat row 6
etc, etc, etc... :
