Crocodile Stitch

Basic Crocodile Stitch
The pictures are a work in progress, I'll have them finished soon...
ch = chain
sl st = slip stitch
dc = double crochet (treble in british I believe)

Ch 20

Row 1: Dc in 2nd ch from hook, *ch 1, skip next 2 ch, 2 dc in next ch, ch 1, skip next 2 ch, dc in next ch* repeat across

Row 2: Ch 1, turn, skip first single post, 5 dc around dc post of next 2dc set – from top to bottom (turning work to the side can make easier if necessary),turn work left to access the 2nd dc of the set, 5 dc around post of 2nd 2dc set – from bottom to top, sl st around next single dc, 5 dc around 1st post of next 2dc set from top to bottom, turn work, 5 dc around 2nd post of 2dc set, sl st around next single post to end of row ending with a sl st in top of last dc

Row 3: Ch 1 turn, 2 dc in first dc, ch 1, 1 dc in center space of scale, ch 1, 2 dc in next dc, *ch 1, 1 dc in center space of scale, ch 1, 2 dc in next dc* repeat *to* across ending with 2 dc in last
Row 4: Ch 1, turn, *5 dc around first dc post from top to bottom, turn, 5 dc around second dc post from bottom to top, sl st around next dc post*, repeat * to* across, end with sl st in top of final second post
Row 5: Ch 1, turn, 1 dc in center space of scale, ch 1, 2 dc in next dc, *ch 1, dc in center space of next scale, ch 1, 2 dc in next dc*, repeat *to* arcoss
Row 6: Ch 1, turn, sk first single dc post, *5 dc around first dc post of next 2dc set, turn, 5 dc around second dc post of set, sl st around next dc post*, repeat *to* across with final sl st in top of last dc
From this point repeating rows 3-6 constructs the pattern.
Row 7: Repeat row 3
Row 8: Repeat row 4
Row 9: Repeat row 5
Row 10: Repeat row 6
etc, etc, etc... :
